for reasons that need not concern us overmuch, i’ve spent the last few days looking at lists of entity names and entity name generators.

• the united states military has some real gems. for instance, i give you and also the designation systems website from which i mined these pearls is appealingly and commendably early 21st century internet.
• this hedge fund name generator is deliciously on target, but ultimately lacking in variety.
• this list of fictional companies had some useful pointers in it.
• supersentient, posthuman AIs run ships in iain m. banks culture novels, and they always had superb names.

unfortunately, prudence prevailed in the end.
